I bought a book last year called “Action Cartooning” by Ben Caldwell. This book is an incredible resource, showing how to convey action scenes with energy and vibrance. I was really struggling to make the punch in the second last panel come to life until I got some posing ideas from the book.
I’m not a big swearer, so I tend to use strong language very infrequently. However, I felt that something slightly stronger was needed in the second last panel to further ramp up the idea that not just the henchbot but Fergus too has undergone a transformation.

woo! nice work!
Thanks Gary. Muchly appreciated
Well done in the fight panel! I’m still having issues with general anatomy! *grin*
Thanks Scott. Me too. I spend more time ‘fixing’ images in Photoshop than actually drawing them!
Nice. +50Str!
I need that gun. Oh and thank you for following me in twitter.
You’re welcome. I could definitely use the upgrade gun too. Any substitute for actual exercise can’t be a bad thing!
i got that same book, nice gun… i need one of them
I absolutely love that book and the follow-up Fantasy Cartooning. There has been talk of a third one with his take on Manga, which I would be very curious to see.
I haven’t seen the Fantasy one… but I too would be curious, you can see the hints of it in his art anyway
True. I really should pick up some of his graphic novels at some point and see what they’re like.
fergus and I have this in common, we can’t resist a joke when we see it, and we tend to know that we’ve gone too far just after passing the limit.
I feel your pain. So do the people who have conversations with me!
Hahah Poopsy? funny. Woah… what a punch!!!
