Girls in Space

Before anyone points it out, the plural of hippopotamus can be either hippopotamuses as Faye says or hippopotami as Red (sort of) suggests.  They’re both right!  Here’s the Oxford Dictionary Definition if you need proof!

At the end of last week, I booked a table at a comic convention coming up in November!  This will be my first ever comic con, and I’m really quite excited about it.  I’ve never been to a con before, not even as a visitor, so I have no idea what to expect.  However, after years of dabbling in webcomics, I felt it was high time I put myself out there and promote my work.

The convention in question is Thought Bubble which takes place in Leeds, England, on 20 November 2010, meaning I have six months to prepare.  Exhibitors tend to be indie comic artists who meet with their existing readers, promote their work to potential new readers and bring books and other merchandise to sell.  However, as of this moment I have no comic-related books, no merchandise and no spare cash to create any!  This could be a small problem!

My hope is that if I can build up a bigger buffer of Girls in Space pages, I could potentially have three stories completed by the time the convention rolls around and if I am able to save/raise some funds I could potentially compile them into a book in time.  Fingers crossed.

I’ve had a few other merchandise ideas which I will share in the fullness of time.  I may even open up a store here on the Girls in Space site to try to raise some capital for my possible book-run.

Booking this table has really helped me to focus on where I want to take Girls in Space in the future, and has reminded me that I can’t do it alone!  So, I hope you continue to read the comic, and I’m very grateful to you for your readership and support.
