In today’s page I attempted to overcome one of my biggest fears – drawing a character in profile. If you look through the archives for Dr Sheep and the Aardvark, The Cat Comic and Girls in Space altogether, you will rarely find any pages where I attempt a side-on face. Usually I stick to a three-quarters view. Last time I tried it was page 19 – a page I consider to be the worst one of this whole story for precisely the reason of the side-on characters. I worry that I’ll make the head look flat, too thin, the eyes will be in the wrong place and I just can’t seem to convey emotions when the characters are at this angle. I attempted it today was in an effort to face this artistic fear and hopefully it doesn’t look too bad. So please enjoy panel 2 - it may be a long time before you see any of my characters from this angle again!
This weekend I finalised the script for the second Girls in Space story and I’ve started drawing it. Like the first story “The Prototype”, it will be 34 pages long (although I’ve only scripted 33 pages at the time of writing. I figured I’d leave a page in case I want to expand on anything while I’m drawing it out. If I don’t need it, I can always add a one-page gag into the story towards the end). The second story will begin at the start of May.

And the plot thickens!
.0.0.0.0.0.0.000000000000000 <——— I'm going to keep that in there seeing as how my cat must have wanted to comment also. I think the profile looked fine…
Haha. This made me laugh. My cat read your cat’s comments with great interest!
and the plot thickens! I think the profile looked fine. can’t wait to see how this ends.
The non-cat translation – I like it!
